Jill Biden has written about the adopted cat that now roams the halls of the White House as a national celebrity
In her new children’s picture book, “Willow the White House Cat,” Dr Jill Biden writes about how the short haired tabby ended up at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
The book is co-written by the prolific Alyssa Satin Capucilli and illustrated with delightful cat pictures by Kate Berube.
The book gives readers a look the White House as seen through the eyes of a cat. It is intended to show a heart-warming side of the White House that not many people outside of politics see.
Willow’s journey gives the world a “cats-eye” view of all the ins and outs of America’s most famous address.

As Willow scampers from room to room, and we get to meet the amazing people who run the White House. Dr Jill Biden said:
They welcomed Willow with love and care, just as they did Joe and me, the First Families who came before us, and all of the people who step foot into this home. Making many new friends along the way,
Dr Jill Biden
We get to hear about how they first met the cat. When Joe Biden had been talking at a presidential stop in 2020 on a Pennsylvania farm, Willow leapt on the stage. It was unplanned but impressed the Bidens. Not long after, they adopted the cat.
The Bidens have also adopted dogs while at the White House.
The cat is named Willow after Jill Biden’s hometown of Willow Grove, Montgomery County, Maryland.
Jill Biden grew up in Montgomery County going to school at Upper Moreland High School in 1969. Dr Jill Biden got a doctorate in education from the University of Delaware in 2007.
Dr Jill Biden is also author of a 2019 memoir Where the Light Enters: Building a Family, Discovering Myself, and other books Don’t Forget, God Bless our Troops and Joey: The Story of Joe Biden.
